The
Country Markets of Starchiojd |
|

|
Each Sunday morning at the entrance to Starchiojd, one sees a large, bustling
marketplace where the peasants of the entire valley come to sell or buy grain,
animals and other foodstuffs. |
|
You have to choose: go to the market or accompany us to the Orthodox church
for the recitation of the Office. It is also possible to go to both. After visiting
the market, you can join us at the church.
| |
| For Romanians, the most versatile and economic
products are the animals!
| |
| Your children will enjoy seeing them, and
perhaps will try to persuade you to purchase one for them!
| |
| | |
| A
rooster to be sold! |
| | |
|
Corn is the most consumed produce by the animals, but it is also useful for
us. With the 'malai' (maize flour), we cook 'mamaliga' (hominy), used instead
of bread. |
